New research from School of Medicine scientists may help explain why millions of malnourished children suffer from stunted growth and fail to thrive even after treatment with nutrient-rich therapeutic foods.

WUSTL is upgrading and expanding its high-performance computer, allowing researchers to process large amounts of data significantly faster. The upgrade is possible thanks to a nearly $600,000 grant from the National Institutes of Health paired with funds from the School of Engineering & Applied Science and the School of Medicine’s Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology.

The Gephardt Institute for Public Service maintains the Community Counts database to track community service activities by WUSTL schools and organizations. It’s time to submit initiatives from the 2013-14 academic year. The deadline is June 30. Each submitted initiative will be entered into a drawing for a $500 grant.
The lower level of the Women’s Building, on the Danforth Campus, is undergoing renovations this summer, so some offices are being relocated. Construction should be complete in October.
